2-1. Overview
Star Wars is a science fiction film series created by George Lucas!
The nine films that form the core of the franchise—the Original Trilogy*, the Prequel Trilogy**, and the Sequel Trilogy***—are collectively known as the “Skywalker Saga.”
After Lucasfilm was sold to The Walt Disney Company in 2012, the Sequel Trilogy and beyond were produced under Disney.
Today, there are also numerous spin-off films and TV series, with countless planets, species, and technologies throughout the galaxy adding depth to the stories.
*Original Trilogy: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)
**Prequel Trilogy (set before the Original Trilogy in the timeline): Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
***Sequel Trilogy: Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017), Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
2-2. What Are Droids?
Droids are the general term for robots that serve various roles throughout the galaxy.
They have the following characteristics and appear as important characters throughout the Star Wars stories.
They have artificial intelligence (AI). Many droids operate autonomously and sometimes display reactions that seem almost emotional.
There are many types. Different droids exist for various purposes: combat, repair, translation, medical, and more.
In Star Wars, droids are portrayed as more than just machines.
Droids with distinctive personalities like R2-D2 and C-3PO often play more heroic roles than humans!

3. The New Walk-In Only Policy
3-1. Walk-Ins Only Starting March 17, 2025!
According to Disney’s official website, starting March 17, 2025, the Droid Depot will no longer accept advance reservations and will switch to same-day walk-in only!
Depending on crowd levels and the day, it seems like recently you could already just walk in and build without a reservation, so this probably won’t be a major change!
3-2. Tips for Avoiding Crowds
Right after park opening tends to be less crowded, so it’s a good idea to visit your target attractions and shops early!
Visiting on weekdays or during off-season is also recommended.
When shows are happening, other areas may be less crowded!

4. The Droid Building Process
1. First, Pay at the Register
Decide whether you want to build a BB, C, or R series droid, and complete your payment first.
2. Select Your Parts
Pick up your parts at the Parts Station.
Choose your favorite designs from the domes, bodies, legs, and other parts moving along the conveyor belt.
It’s fun to mix different colors for each part, or you can unify all the colors for a sleek, simple look!
3. Assembly
Build at the Build Station. Arrange your parts and follow the instructions to screw everything together.
Staff members are there to help if you have any questions, so you can enjoy the building process!
4. Bring Your Droid to Life—Complete!
Finally, pair your droid with its remote control and activate it in a special ceremony that brings your droid to life.
Once your droid is complete, take it home in the included box or a separately sold droid backpack!
Check out our Instagram for actual footage of the experience!
5. Pricing and Important Notes
The cost is $99.99 per droid (before tax).
This includes all assembly parts, a remote control, and a carrying box.
Additional accessories like personality chips and the dedicated backpack are sold separately.
6. Additional Accessories
6-1. Personality Chips
There are options to customize your droid’s “personality” and electronic sounds, like making it lean toward the Rebel Alliance (Resistance) or the First Order!
This changes the interactions and sounds, making your droid even more uniquely yours.
6-2. Premium Droids and Scrap Merchandise
Inside the shop, you’ll find pre-made premium models and merchandise made from scrap parts—items that are fun just to look at.
Even after finishing your build experience, take some time to explore the shop and discover some hidden treasures!

7. Take Your Droid on Adventures!
Once assembled, your droid can be taken outside the park and still operated with the remote control!
Display it in your room, play with it, and have lots of fun!
When flying back to Japan, your luggage may be subject to additional screening!
I’ve heard both stories—some people had no issues, while others were checked. It might be smoother to partially disassemble your droid beforehand!
The park has tons of fun spots including restaurants and attractions, so bring your droid along and explore!
8. Summary
Droids are beloved throughout the galaxy and are essential characters in the Star Wars saga.
At the Droid Depot, you can build popular astromech droids—BB series, C series, and R series—with your own choice of colors and parts!
Have fun creating your very own original droid!
