Pixar Pier Guide: Best Rides & Food at Disney California Adventure
The Area with Mickey’s Ferris Wheel! What Makes Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park So Special?
Pixar Pier is one of the must-visit areas when you go to Disneyland in California!
This area features the famous Ferris wheel with Mickey on it, a huge roller coaster, and many other attractive rides that capture the California vibe.
Be sure to check it out before your visit and think about which attractions you want to ride!

1. What Is Pixar Pier at Disneyland California?
The Disneyland Resort in California has two theme parks, and Disney California Adventure Park features an area themed around Pixar films called “Pixar Pier.”
Pixar Pier reopened in 2018 after a transformation from the former “Paradise Pier” into an area infused with the world of Pixar movies.
The entire area is designed based on the Pixar movie universe, with animated film characters welcoming you everywhere you look.
It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the park entrance—just head straight through Buena Vista Street (right after the entrance) and you’ll find it at the very back of the park.
The whole pier has an atmosphere reminiscent of a California seaside amusement park, lined with a giant Ferris wheel, roller coaster, game stands, and restaurants.
2. The Themed Setting of Pixar Pier
Pixar Pier brings together the worlds where Pixar movie characters live.
The area is divided into four main themes, each inspired by different Pixar films.
1. Incredibles Park
An area themed around “Incredibles 2,” featuring a thrilling roller coaster as its main attraction.
2. Toy Story Boardwalk
A “Toy Story” themed area with plenty of game stands and ride attractions.
3. Inside Out Headquarters
An area inspired by “Inside Out,” featuring attractions suitable for younger children.
4. Pixar Promenade
A general Pixar-themed area where characters from various movies are hidden throughout.
3. Attractions and Restaurants: Names and Details
*Attractions
1. Incredicoaster
This “Incredibles 2” themed roller coaster takes you on a massive ride that passes near the famous Mickey Ferris wheel.
The coaster’s speed and loops are super thrilling, and you’ll catch the characters’ comedic conversations and special effects along the way!
While it is a thrilling attraction, there isn’t much of the floating sensation from drops like you’d experience on Tower of Terror at Tokyo DisneySea, so in that sense it’s relatively easier to handle!

2. Toy Story Midway Mania!
This is a 4D shooting game themed around “Toy Story”—also hugely popular at Tokyo DisneySea.
Put on 3D glasses and challenge yourself to a shooting game alongside Toy Story characters!
3. Pixar Pal-A-Round
This giant Mickey Ferris wheel is one of Disneyland’s iconic symbols, featuring gondolas decorated with Pixar characters.
You can choose between swinging gondolas and stationary gondolas—though it varies by day, the stationary ones tend to have shorter lines!
The swinging gondolas rock quite a bit, so if you want to enjoy the view in a more relaxed way, go for the stationary option.

4. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind
This is an adorable spinning ride themed around “Inside Out”!
With its colorful design, even small children can enjoy it—perfect for the whole family!
*Restaurants
1. Lamplight Lounge
A modern restaurant located at the heart of Pixar Pier where you can dine while gazing at the Ferris wheel and roller coaster!
Inside, you’ll find Pixar movie art and memorabilia on display, and you can enjoy California cuisine and original cocktails.
Reservations are generally required to dine here, so don’t forget to check in advance!

2. Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats
A sweets stand themed around the Abominable Snowman from “Monsters, Inc.”
The menu focuses on casual, light options like soft serve ice cream and frozen drinks.
3. Poultry Palace
A fried chicken shop designed to look like a lunchbox from “Toy Story”!
They offer easy-to-eat menu items, and takeout is available.
4. Angry Dogs
A hot dog stand themed around “Anger” from “Inside Out.”
Their signature item is a spicy hot dog—grab one for a quick bite between attractions!
4. What Makes It So Special?
First of all, one major appeal is that this is the area home to Mickey’s Ferris wheel—the iconic symbol of Disney California Adventure!
Take photos with the Ferris wheel in the background, actually ride it and experience the thrilling swinging gondolas, or watch Incredicoaster (the park’s biggest roller coaster) from inside the Ferris wheel—it’s all so much fun!
While the area is lively during the day, it’s absolutely beautiful at night when everything is lit up, so be sure to check it out then too.
5. What’s More Popular Than Toy Story Mania?
It depends on the day, but overall, wait times for attractions at Disneyland in America tend to be shorter than at Tokyo Disneyland.
However, sometimes attractions are under maintenance or stop mid-operation, and once they resume after inspection, lines can get longer than usual!
In Japan, Toy Story Mania was so popular at one point that it had extremely long lines, but at California’s park, you won’t wait nearly as long!
Within this area, Incredicoaster tends to be more popular, and across the entire park, Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land often has the longest wait times!
Radiator Springs Racers is an extremely popular attraction, so if you absolutely want to ride it, you’ll need to use Lightning Lane Single Pass—a paid priority access system you can purchase after entering the park.
