What’s the Setting of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
Planet Batuu on the Edge of the Galaxy

Disneyland Anaheim is a must-visit when you come to the Los Angeles area!

This time, we’ll introduce in detail what the hugely popular area Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the park is like, including the area’s setting!

Reading this before your visit will help you enjoy it even more, so please check it out!

1. What is the Star Wars Movie Series?

Star Wars is a science fiction film series created by George Lucas.

It consists of the original trilogy, prequel trilogy, and sequel trilogy. The original trilogy was released with Episode 4/A New Hope in 1977, Episode 5/The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, and Episode 6/Return of the Jedi in 1983.

Following that, the prequel trilogy (chronologically set before the original trilogy in the movie universe) was released with Episode 1/The Phantom Menace in 1999, Episode 2/Attack of the Clones in 2002, and Episode 3/Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

After George Lucas’s Lucasfilm was sold to The Walt Disney Company in 2012, further sequels were made,

and the sequel trilogy was released with Episode 7/The Force Awakens in 2015, Episode 8/The Last Jedi in 2017, and Episode 9/The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

These nine films are called the “Skywalker Saga” and form the core of the series, with multiple spin-off works also being produced.

2. An Area Only in American Disneyland!?

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Anaheim opened on May 31, 2019.

It also opened at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on August 29 of the same year.

Currently, this area exists only at Disneyland in California and Florida in the United States!

3. What’s the Intriguing Setting of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

This area is set on the forgotten planet Batuu, located on the edge of the galaxy between the Unknown Regions and Wild Space. (It’s set as a different planet from those that appeared in the movies.)

Also, the largest village on planet Batuu is called Black Spire Outpost,

which is surrounded by the remains of petrified giant trees in nature and built on the ruins of an ancient civilization.

It’s said to be the perfect hideout for people who want to do business discreetly (rogues and smugglers).

Recently, the Resistance (rebel forces organized to oppose the enemy First Order) has also begun visiting this place, and this information has attracted the attention of the First Order, who seeks to strengthen their control, leading to their intervention.

4. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo (Restaurant)

The chef of this restaurant, Strono “Cookie” Tuggs, sources ingredients from across the galaxy to serve exotic cuisine, according to the setting.

Since they’re using a spaceship hangar as a restaurant, you can enjoy meals while immersing yourself in the Star Wars universe.

For videos and more details from the location, please check out this Instagram!

5. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Attraction)

This is an attraction where you board the popular spaceship Millennium Falcon familiar from the movies and complete a mission.

The cockpit can accommodate up to 6 people, and all participants work together to complete the mission.

There are three roles: 2 pilots, 2 gunners, and 2 engineers, with the main task being to press buttons near your seat when they light up.

Pilots are entrusted with flying the Millennium Falcon, with the left seat pilot responsible for moving the ship left and right, and the right seat pilot responsible for moving it up and down.

Gunners are in charge of attacking enemy ships with weapons, and engineers handle ship repairs.

The mission results vary depending on the team’s performance, and since which role you get is random each time, you can enjoy it no matter how many times you ride!

6. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Attraction)

This is an attraction where you become a member of the Resistance and actually experience the battle against the enemy First Order.

The rough flow of the story is: first, you head to the base as a member of the Resistance and board a transport ship to complete a mission.

An unexpected development occurs along the way, and you’re taken as a prisoner to the enemy camp, then try to escape with the help of a secret Resistance team.

You’ll be moved by the immersive, realistic world created by the massive sets, and you’ll experience the thrill as if you’re really a member of the Resistance fighting in battle as you walk through the interior of a Star Destroyer and board an escape ship!

Since this is one of the most popular attractions, it’s best to check the current wait time information as soon as you arrive at Disneyland!

7. Oga’s Cantina (Bar)

At Oga’s Cantina, you can enjoy original cocktails and drinks while listening to music played by a droid DJ named R-3X (nicknamed Rex).

R-3X was originally a droid who piloted the StarSpeeder 3000 as a member of Star Tours!

Since you can experience being in the Mos Eisley Cantina that appears in Episode 4, this is definitely one of the must-visit spots for movie fans!

Reservations are required to enter, so you need to check the park app in advance!

8. Milk Stand (Drink Stand)

This is a shop where you can buy the blue milk and green milk familiar from the Star Wars movies.

Blue milk is milk from an animal called Bantha that lives on the planet Tatooine.

It first appeared in the very first movie released (Episode 4), where Luke Skywalker drank it with a meal prepared by his aunt Beru Lars.

Green milk appears in Episode 8.

Luke milks it directly from a Thala-siren, a marine creature from the planet Ahch-To, and the scene where Luke drinks it on the spot was memorable!

The blue milk you can drink at Disneyland is a fruit-flavored frozen drink based on coconut milk and rice milk.

The green milk is tropical flavored!

Both the blue milk I ordered this time and the BB-8 shaped Coca-Cola sold nearby were very delicious!

Please check out this Instagram for details!

9. Ronto Roasters (Snacks)

This shop offers various snacks using charcoal-grilled Ronto meat.

Ronto is a large four-legged herbivore that lives on the planet Tatooine, which also appears in the movies.

In reality, the menu uses pork and sausages, but it’s perfect for satisfying your appetite, so please try it!

10. Droid Depot (Shop)

This is a shop where you can build your own original droid.

You can make either a BB-type or R2-type, and the completed droid can be moved and make sounds using a remote control.

You select your favorite parts from various components flowing on a conveyor belt and assemble them at the workstation.

The completed droid can be taken home in a special box, and if you purchase a droid-specific backpack, you can carry the droid on your back while exploring the park.

Also, you can purchase chips to insert into the droid to add different voices!

This is an experience you can only have here, so please try it!

11. In Conclusion

This is a fun area not only for Star Wars movie fans but also for those who haven’t seen the movies yet, where you can adventure through space travel and remote planets.

When you visit Disneyland in Los Angeles, please enjoy Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
