Straight Out of the Cars Movie!? Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

Disneyland in California is so big that it can be hard to decide which area to explore first.

Cars Land, which I’m introducing today, is an area exclusive to California and home to one of the most popular attractions—making it one of the spots you should prioritize!

Be sure to check it out before your visit to get an idea of what to expect!

Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

1. What Is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park?

The Disneyland Resort in California has two theme parks, and one of them is Disney California Adventure Park.

This park features areas themed around California culture and Disney movies, and “Cars Land,” which opened in 2012, is one of the most popular areas.

Cars Land faithfully recreates Radiator Springs, the setting of the movie “Cars.”

It’s about a 10-minute walk from the park entrance—just head straight through Buena Vista Street (right after the entrance) and you’ll find it on your left.

2. About the Movie “Cars”

“Cars” is a 2006 film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Disney.

The story follows Lightning McQueen, a self-centered city-slicker racing car, who gets lost in the small rural town of Radiator Springs and grows through his interactions with the local residents.

Sequels including “Cars 2” (2011) and “Cars 3” (2017) were produced, and the franchise is loved by people of all ages for its uniquely charming characters and compelling storylines.

3. Setting and Additional Details

Cars Land completely recreates Radiator Springs, the setting of the movie “Cars.”

You’ll be amazed by how faithfully the town has been recreated—the gas stations, motels, and diners you saw in the movie are all there exactly as they appeared on screen.

Another charming aspect is how the area’s atmosphere changes between day and night!

During the day, you can clearly see the desert town in its natural setting, but at night, neon lights come on and transform it into a cool, glowing streetscape.

*The Impressive Ornament Valley

The mountains at the back of the area are called “Ornament Valley”—massive three-dimensional rock formations with realistically rendered sandstone layers and boulders.

The red sandstone mountains and canyon landscapes surrounding Radiator Springs in the movie are said to be modeled after the real Monument Valley and the desert regions of the American Southwest!

I was amazed by how massive the rock formations are—it’s hard to believe you’re inside a Disney park!

*The Secret of Cadillac Range

Within Ornament Valley, the Cadillac Range (the six tail fin-shaped mountain peaks) holds a secret that only car enthusiasts will catch!

Apparently, they’re modeled after Cadillac tail fins from 1957 to 1962—so if you’re a car lover, be sure to check them out!

4. Attractions and Restaurants

*Attractions

1. Radiator Springs Racers

Radiator Springs Racers is not only the most popular attraction in Cars Land, but it’s also one of the busiest rides in all of Disney California Adventure Park!

Since it’s such a popular attraction, if you absolutely want to ride it, it’s best to use Lightning Lane Single Pass—a paid priority access system you can purchase after entering the park.

On this attraction, you race around Radiator Springs alongside Cars characters, culminating in a thrilling high-speed race.

The ride begins when you board your vehicle and take a scenic drive through the beautiful landscapes around Radiator Springs.

Along the way, characters appear and you’ll enjoy movie-like conversations and humorous scenes.

After getting a tire change and paint job, you finally enter a speed competition race!

The racing portion features exhilarating high-speed runs through the mountain roads, giving you roller coaster-like thrills.

This is an attraction that appeals to everyone—from thrill-seeking adults to children.

2. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree

Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is a lively, fun spinning attraction starring the movie’s popular character, the tow truck Mater.

Mater has rounded up a lively group of tractors to throw an old-fashioned square dance at the junkyard, and you’re invited to the party.

On this attraction, you hop into a cart pulled by a tractor and enjoy the unique figure-eight spinning movements on the dance floor!

The course is set in a “junkyard,” making it a perfect attraction for the whole family!

3. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters is a kid-friendly attraction where you ride colorful cars that “dance” to toe-tapping Italian music.

The cars are said to be modeled after 1950s Italian rear-engine microcars!

It’s an adorable attraction perfect for children, so be sure to check it out!

*Restaurants

1. Flo’s V8 Café

Flo’s V8 Café is an American diner-style restaurant that faithfully recreates the establishment from the movie “Cars.”

This café is themed as if it’s run by the character “Flo,” featuring a retro design that reflects classic car culture.

The menu focuses on American food, with hamburgers, salads, and shakes being particularly recommended!

They have adorable limited-edition cups for the shakes, so if you’re a Cars fan, definitely order one!

Seating is available both indoors and outdoors, and depending on where you sit, you can enjoy your meal while gazing at Ornament Valley.

It’s a popular restaurant where you can fully soak in the movie’s atmosphere!

2. Cozy Cone Motel

Cozy Cone Motel is a snack stand designed after the “Cozy Cone” motel from the movie.

In this area, five cone-shaped buildings line up, each offering different snacks and drinks.

Available items include “Chili Cone Queso” (chili-stuffed cone), ice cream, lemonade, and more—all perfect for a quick snack!

3. Fillmore’s Taste-In

Fillmore’s Taste-In is a snack stand themed around the character “Fillmore” from the movie.

The building’s design reflects hippie culture, with colorful decorations and a free-spirited atmosphere that’s truly charming!

The menu features fruit, fresh juices, and other health-conscious options.

5. What Makes Cars Land So Special

Every building and attraction faithfully recreates the world of Radiator Springs down to the finest details, making you feel like you’ve stepped right into the movie!

Also, the sheer scale of Ornament Valley at the back of the area is truly impressive—you can’t help but be moved by its grandeur!

You’ll be able to enjoy natural scenery so vast that it’s hard to believe you’re in just one section of Disneyland.

Characters from Cars occasionally drive down the roads, and they move just like real cars, with changing facial expressions that are absolutely adorable—so be sure to explore every corner of the area!

Cars Land is a captivating area that anyone can enjoy—not just Disney fans or “Cars” movie fans!

With its realistic recreations and diverse attractions, I think it’s one of the most worthwhile spots to visit in Disney California Adventure!
