What Is Table Rock Beach?<\/h3>\n<p>Table Rock Beach is a tucked-away cove at the southern end of Laguna Beach, California.<\/p>\n<p><mark class=\"hl-yellow\">Steep sandstone bluffs frame it to the north and south, and on calm, sunny days the water in between can look turquoise or emerald green<\/mark>.<\/p>\n<p>Public access is from Table Rock Drive, just off Pacific Coast Highway, down a long, steep staircase of about 160 steps to the sand.<\/p>\n<p><mark class=\"hl-pink\">At low tide, tide pools and small sea caves open up<\/mark>, and the pools support a rich variety of marine life.<\/p>\n<p>Toward evening the sun drops into the gap between the cliffs and turns that turquoise water gold. Where the Name Comes From<\/h4>\n<p>A flat rock shelf juts out at the south end of the beach, and it looks like an enormous table. That&#8217;s where the name Table Rock comes from.<\/p>\n<p>At low tide <mark class=\"hl-pink\">the shelf is easier to make out, and the wide view across the cove<\/mark> is why this is the photo spot everyone heads for.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 1.2em; font-weight: bold; margin: 1.2em 0 0.6em 0; color: #555;\">3-3. Wildlife You Can Spot<\/h4>\n<p>When the tide drops, tide pools appear among the rocks on the north side, and you&#8217;ll find <mark class=\"hl-yellow\">purple sea urchins, anemones, hermit crabs, sea stars and other Southern California regulars<\/mark> living in them.<\/p>\n<p>As at other beaches along this stretch, <strong>seals or sea lions<\/strong> may occasionally be seen offshore.<\/p>\n<p>This stretch of coast sits inside a no-take marine protected area, which means <strong><mark class=\"hl-pink\">taking anything out of the tide pools is off limits<\/mark><\/strong> \u2014 rocks, shells, plants and marine life alike.
